FAQ

Here are answers to some of your most asked questions:
What is the minimum age for participants?
All workshops are for age 8 and up, and the best ones for the younger kids are the Paperweight, Glass Ball and Air Plant Terrarium. Children and youth under 18 need to sign up together with a paying adult.
Where do we go for our glassblowing workshop?
The studio is located at Artscape Wychwood Barns – 601 Christie St. Studio 252.

Upon arrival at the historic Artscape Wychwood Barns building, please find the Christie Street main entrance (at the West side of the building). The building that houses the studio is locked during COVID-19 so you will be greeted by your glass workshop teacher at the door. If you need to get in more than 15 minutes early, we are never far – find the phone number in your confirmation email and text us to let us know that you have arrived.

Visit our Studio page for more information
How long are glassblowing workshops?
All workshop times are estimated based on full class enrolment. If fewer people enrol, the class will generally take less time. Once you have completed your object you are welcome to stay and watch other students but you are also free to go.

How should I prepare for my workshop + what should I wear ?

What to wear:

We recommend that you wear comfortable, cotton clothing that is form fitting so it wont catch on tools, tables, etc. Please don’t wear any synthetics. For shoes, we recommend sneakers. Please tie up any long hair. If you forget, we have hair ties.

What to bring:

All you really need to bring is yourself, but bottled water is also a good idea.
What if my glass work breaks?
Playing With Fire focuses on delivering one-of-a-kind glass working experiences and, as such, we consider our workshops to be our product. However, sometimes glass breaks. In the rare event that your object becomes cosmetically damaged during or after the workshop, you will receive your object as well as the demo piece created at the beginning of the workshop. In the rare event that your object is entirely broken, you will receive a remake created by one of our instructors.
